2018 Row by Row Experience FAQs
I'm a quilter. How can I participate? Simply visit any participating quilt shop during the summer and ask for the free pattern for its 2015 Row. The 2016 theme is "ON THE GO," therefore, each shop will have this theme in its row. Limit one per person, walk-in customers only.
The shops are all over the USA and into Canada. How can I get the row patterns from quilt shops that are far away from me? You can't. The shops are offering the pattern only to customers who walk in the door. Please do not ask them to email or mail their row patterns.
Can I make copies of the patterns I collect? Absolutely not! This is a big no-no! The patterns are copyright property of the designers.
So, is this a shop hop? Yes, but there are no fees and no passports.
Are there prizes? Can I win something? Yes!!! You win a prize for completing a quilt using at least eight (8) different rows from eight (8) different 2015 participating shops. Be the first to bring it into a shop, and you win a stash of 25 fat quarters (That's 6-1/4 yards of fabric)!
What do you consider "complete" when it comes to my quilt? All quilts must be quilted, bound, and have a stitched label. Labels may not be pinned.
What pattern do I use for my quilt? You decide. Stack your rows, arrange around a center medallion, make them horizontal, vertical, upside down, on the front, on the back, whatever! You are the designer. Be creative and have fun, but be sure to use eight (8) different 2015 rows from eight (8) different 2015 shops.
Can I win in more than one shop? Sorry, Charlie. One prize per quilter. You can make several quilts and show them off in several shops, but you may only claim one prize. Your quilt will be photographed for Facebook, and everyone will see it.
How do I know which shops are participating? Check the website: www.rowbyrowexperience.com. Click the state you are traveling in to see the listing of shops. A Google map and a downloadable list will be available before summer.
Are all of the shops open for the same hours? No. Be sure to check the shop's website or call ahead when planning your route to verify its hours.
Can I see pictures of the rows? Yes. Each area has a Facebook page and the shops will post photos of their rows when they are ready to show. You can 'like' your area's page and any you plan to visit. You do not have to be a member of Facebook. The Facebook page links are on the website.
What are the exact dates of the event? You have from June 21 through September 6, 2016 to collect the free patterns. You have until October 31, 2016 to submit a quilt for a prize.
Anything else that I should know? Lots! Each shop is participating in its own way. You will be able to buy kits for the rows and see demos for new quilting products when you visit many of the shops. May others are carrying the FabricPlates and the coordinating Row by Row fabrics to be cut right off the bolt!
Row by Row Junior Five (5) Different Free Patterns to Choose From!
Everyone at the shop is excited about Row by Row Junior! It is designed for kids ages 6 to 14 as they travel along with an adult, they can collect free row patterns designed just for them to sew with family help and also support from www.rowbyrowexperience.com.
Row by Row Junior follows the same rules and time schedule as the adult Row by Row Experience, June 21 through Labor Day. Kids need to be in the shop with an adult to receive a free pattern, but anyone may purchase a kit. These rows will make great gifts or souvenirs. Row by Row Junior designed the five (5) different row patterns so you can be sure they are kid-friendly. Make it a traveling adventure and collect all five and see how different the various shops stitch the Rows.
The first five (5) kids who return with a stitched Row by Row Junior pattern will be awarded an “I Made This!” ribbon. Any sewing effort will be celebrated, not just quilting. Find Row by Row Junior’s free online activities, kids’ journal pages, support for learning to sew at home, and more at www.rowbyrowexperience.com.
